Rotate menu allows you to rotate any 3D object in your scene — any characters, props, or light sources — along the three axis.
Open the rotate menu
- In 3D Editor, tap to select a character, prop or light in your scene to open the Action menu at the bottom of the screen. In this tutorial, we will use the cube prop as an example.
- Then tap the Rotate button
in the Action menu.
You can rotate the object in two ways: using rotation circles and using the precision panel.
Rotate the object
Rotation Circles
The blue, red and green circles represent the 3 axes around which you can rotate your object. Tap and drag a rotation circle to rotate your model around the desired axis:
Precision Panel
- Select an axis by tapping on the X, Y and Z buttons
above the slider.
- Then tap and drag the slider in the panel to rotate your model. The following example shows how you can select the X axis and rotate the character around the X axis.
You can use the same controls on any prop or light source in your scene as well. The additional examples below show how you can use the Rotate menu to rotate a prop or a light in the scene.
Advanced rotate settings
Use local axis
You can switch between global and local axis in Rotate Settings menu. Global axes are always the same because they are global to the entire 3D scene. Local axes change based on the orientation of the object. In the example below, observe how the global and local axes are the same when the cube is upright, and how they are different when the cube is rotated:
When the cube is upright
1) Global axes
2) Local axes
When the cube is rotated
1) Global axes
2) Local axes
To switch between global and local axis:
- From the Rotate menu, tap on the Settings button
.
- Tap on the "Use local axis" switch to turn local axis on and off.
Show Euler angles
You can also get more precision with your rotation by turning on Euler angles display. For a full introduction to Euler angles, please refer to this wikipedia article.
To show Euler angles:
- From the Rotate menu, tap on the Settings button
.
- Tap on the "Show Euler angles body X-Y'-Z''" switch to turn Euler angles display on and off.

Similar comments to the "Position objects". We should separate the gifs of using the rotation circles and the precision sliders.
Also if you notice, in the text above the picture of the cube, you wrote "we will use the default character as an example". I changed everything to cube. I am also fine with using the character as an example, but we just need to make the text and the gif consistent across this tutorial.
