The 3D Editor

Let's walk through the different parts of the 3D editor:

• The "Main Menu" button  opens a number of useful menus, i.e. "layers", "views", "import/export", and "home" which directs you back to the home screen. You can learn more about these menus in the corresponding sections of the user guide.
• The "Undo" and "Redo" buttons  allow you to undo or redo any edits you performed, similar to how they work in all other apps!
• Dragging on the "View Cube"  allows you to move the camera in the 3D scene. We will cover it in more detail in the "Navigate the 3D scene" section of this tutorial.
• The "Preview" button  allows you to view the scene with minimal buttons and controls. It is a great way to get a preview of your finished scene before you export it to a picture or a 3D file. We will cover it in more detail in the "Preview mode" section of this tutorial.
• The "Add" button  allows you to add characters, props or lights to your scene.
• The 3D character: This is what you are mostly working with in Magic Poser! We provide a wide range of characters of different body types and art styles. The blue circles and squares on the character are called "control points". You will pose the character using these control points. We will cover that in great detail in our Posing tutorial.
• The main light: You will have one directional light by default with every new scene you create. You can customize the brightness, angle and color of the light, add any number of additional lights, or even remove the light from your scene. Lighting is covered in detail in our Lighting tutorial.
• The perspective grid: The lines on the ground are drawing guides showing you the perspective of the scene. They can be extremely handy in mastering accurate perspective in your drawing. You can turn on perspective grid in 3 planes. We will go over how to do that in our Views tutorial.
