You can quickly try out your pose on a wide variety of characters with the help of the Swap menu. The Swap menu allows you to switch between any character while keeping the same pose. Let's take a look at how you can take advantage of this time-saving feature.
Open the Swap Menu
- In 3D Editor, tap to select a character in your scene to open the Action menu at the bottom of the screen.
- Tap the Customize button
to open the Customize menu.
- Tap the Swap tab
in the bottom menu.
Swap character
- First, select the category of characters you want in the top menu. For example, select "Stylized" from the top menu to view all stylized characters.
- Tap the character you want to swap to and the character in your scene will automatically swap to the character you selected.
Swapping between generations
Since Magic Poser has been constantly evolving, each character available comes from a generation of characters. Different generations of characters differ in their skeleton and posing mechanism.
For example, our anime characters were made before we added the waist control point to the torso, and thus allows less movement in the waist area than the newest generation of realistic characters. Please see the following picture of a side-by-side comparison of the 3rd generation character (with chest, waist and pelvis control point) and the 2nd and 1st generation characters (with only chest and pelvis control point).
Because of this difference in skeleton and posing mechanism, swapping between different generations of characters may not swap the pose with 100% accuracy. Our automatic retargeting works very well for most of the cases. However, in some extreme poses, you may still need to do some manual tuning afterwards.
